Third generation expert furrier, Marc Kaufman, who is currently working on fulfilling the whopping $900,000 custom order, says “nothing could be more opulent than a blanket made from the most expensive fur on Earth.” The Kaufman family has been manufacturing fur coats and fur jackets in NYC , designing luxury furs, repairing luxury furs and altering along with providing cold fur storage fur cleaning, fur remodeling and fur repairs for fur stores and individuals since 1910. Sable has been the fur of choice for royals since the Middle Ages. Reserved exclusively for members of the nobility in several instances, Russian Sable Fur remains an extraordinarily precious, exquisite, and expensive material; described by a wealthy 17th-century Russian diplomat as “A beast full marvelous and prolific […] a beast that the Ancient Greeks and Romans called the Golden Fleece.” The New York Times recently referred to the Russian Sable as “the most sought-after pelts in the World.”

Sable fur is unique because it retains its smoothness in every direction it is stroked, while the fur of other animals feels rough when stroked opposite the grain. And when the royal customer bathes himself in hundreds of thousands of dollars of Russian sable from a fancy New York furrier, he has not spend nearly a million dollars on ”ranch” fur from sables raised in cages, because by far the most exquisite specimens of sable are still found only in the Russian wild.
