Description
A multi colored full length fox coat is not a coat you wear to disappear. The full length is worked in horizontal bands of contrasting dyed fox, so the colour shifts as you move and the eye travels the whole length of it. Fox takes dye better than any other fur — the long guard hair holds the tone while the underfur stays paler, which is what gives each band its depth instead of a flat block of colour.
Full length means exactly that: it runs to the ankle, with the weight and the sweep that only a long fur has. Worn open over trousers it moves like a coat; closed, it reads as a single dramatic column.
How to wear it
Keep everything else quiet. The coat is the whole outfit. Black or a neutral underneath, simple lines, nothing patterned — anything else fights it.
One piece of jewellery, not three. A strong earring or a single necklace. With this much colour already in play, more becomes noise.
Wear it with some conviction. A coat like this is noticed, and it looks best on someone who intended to be. That is not a styling tip so much as the honest truth about a coat this long.
About the piece
Made and finished by hand at 212 West 30th Street, where we have been furriers since 1870. Every coat is worked on the premises, and alterations are done here rather than sent out.
