This is a fabulous collection of cat lynx jackets, cat lynx coats, lynx jackets, lynx coats. Lynx have short tails and the characteristic tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears. Also, the lynx’s colouring, fur height and paw size varies by its climate range—in the Southwestern United States, the fur and colour are short-haired, dark and the paws are smaller and less padded; as the lynx ranges to its colder northern climates, the fur gets progressively thicker (for warmth), the colour gets lighter (for camouflage) and its paws enlarge and become more padded (for snowy environments). The paws may become larger than a human hand or foot.

Amongst the 36 looks crafted from mink, chinchilla, and sable, Lagerfeld’s Haute fourrure show also featured one of the most expensive items of clothing ever: a fur coat worth €1 million (for the math averse, that’s $1,085,040). According to Dazed, every single follicle on this floor-length sable overcoat is coated in pure silver, “giving a unique and contemporary luminous metallic effect to the fur while maintaining its softness.” This glimmering, moonlit finish made it the standout piece of the show — we’d certainly hope so, especially given the price tag.

Lagerfeld wasn’t exaggerating before the show when he told WWD, “The sable coat today is expensive like people pay less for a house than for a fur coat. It’s unbelievable!” It remains to who’s willing to shell out — and brave PETA — to wear it.

Freezing Temperatures in Chicago Spark Dramatic Rise in Online Fur Sales

Highs in the Twin Cities have been below freezing every day since Nov. 10, an 11-day stretch. This rivals the longest November subfreezing streaks on record there. The high on Nov. 17 was only 15 degrees, which is colder than their climatologically coldest average highs in January (23 degrees).

According to the National Weather Service, Chicago tied the record for longest stretch of subfreezing daily high temperatures, with seven days, for the month of November and set a record for consecutive hours below freezing for November with 180 hours.

Other Cold Notables:

Joplin, Missouri set a record low for the month of November on Tuesday with a low temperature of 6 degrees.

Casper, Wyoming, dipped to -27 at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night, shattering their all-time November record low of -21 on Nov. 23, 1985 (records date to 1939). The temperature stayed at -27 at midnight Thursday, making it the new record low for Nov. 13 as well. Previously, the soonest Casper plunged to -27 was on Dec. 5, 1972.

Denver’s high of 6 on Nov. 12 was the coldest daily high so early in the season. Only three other November days had daily high temperatures colder in Denver, dating to 1872. Early Thursday morning, Denver chalked up a bone-chilling -14 degrees, easily the coldest temperature so early in the season.
