Description
A full length fuchsia mink coat with white fronts. The construction is the point: fuchsia through the body, with pale panels running down either side of the opening. Two things happen at once — the white frames the face at the top, and the vertical break narrows the whole line. It is a piece of tailoring rather than a colour choice.
Fuchsia is among the harder shades to dye evenly. Too far one way it goes cold and reads purple; too far the other and it turns coral. This sits where it should, saturated through the guard hair with the underfur left paler beneath.
How to wear it
Nothing patterned. The coat already has a strong vertical line built into it; anything busy underneath fights it.
Let the white do the work at the neck. Skip the scarf. The pale fronts are the frame and a scarf covers exactly the part that flatters.
About the piece
Made and finished by hand at 212 West 30th Street, where we have been furriers since 1870. Alterations are done on the premises.
