Matching is the point, but the two pieces are not copies. His is white, which makes the stripes an accent on a big, bright ground; hers is black, which turns the same colours into the brightest thing in the picture. Both are worked in horizontal bands with a full hood, a centre zip and a hip-length hem, and the stripes are pieced into the fur rather than sewn on, so a pair bought this winter still matches in ten.
