Black Mink Sports Jacket with White Striped Mink Inlays and Zipper 8662

Description

The stripes are not appliqué. Each white chevron across the chest and the single stripe down each sleeve is an inlay of white mink let into the black, skin against skin, so the surface is one continuous fur with the pattern built into it rather than sewn on top. That is what separates this black mink sports jacket from the printed and pieced versions: at arm’s length it reads as a varsity jacket, and in the hand it reads as the fur it is.

The cut follows the sportswear it borrows from. A spread collar rather than a stand, a two-way zip so it opens from the hem when you sit, and a ribbed band at the waist that lets the body blouse over it. It is short, ending at the hip, which is the length that goes over a jean or a trouser without either one arguing.

Made and altered in our own West 30th Street workroom and fitted before it leaves.
