Description
The whole coat is a checkerboard. Squares of pink mink alternate with panels of brown leather embossed to a crocodile grain, so the fur reads as blocks of colour rather than one sweep, and the leather carries the weight the pelts would otherwise have to. A deep portrait collar in brown and pink fur frames the face, the cuffs are turned back in the same pink mink, and a wide leather belt on a gold buckle draws the waist in over gold dome buttons.
It runs full length, past the knee to mid-calf. Mink is matched by hand for density and nap direction before a single square is cut, which is what keeps the pink even across a panelled body — on a checkerboard any drift between one square and the next is immediately visible. It is made and altered in our own West 30th Street workroom, and will be fitted before it leaves.
Every piece we sell can be stored in our cold vaults through the summer, cleaned and conditioned each season, and remodeled later if you want the shape brought up to date.
