Description
A man buying his first fur almost always looks at mink and almost always should not. Mink is dense, flat and quiet; it reads as expensive from a foot away and as nothing from across a room. Fox does the opposite. This brown fox fur coat has long guard hair that catches light and moves, and at knee length on a broad frame it is unmistakable.
The colour is a warm russet rather than a flat chocolate, and it changes considerably between daylight and a lit room — the tips are lighter than the underfur, which is what gives the pile its depth. The collar is very large, cut as a shawl that rolls over the shoulder and stands up around the neck when the weather asks it to.
