Black Full Length Mink Coat with Double Row Ruffled Hem

Description

The hem is the entire design, and it is two pieces of work rather than one. A single deep ruffle would hang as a heavy bell and drag the coat down; two shallower tiers, the upper one set slightly proud of the lower, each carry half the weight and move independently. That is why this black full length mink coat swings instead of swaying.

Each tier is cut from skins running across the body rather than down it, which is what lets them gather tightly without bulking at the seam. Above them the coat is plain to the shoulder: a small stand collar, one button covered in the same pelt at the throat, and nothing else all the way down, so the eye has nowhere to stop until it reaches the hem.
