Women’s Orange & Blue Striped Black Mink Hooded Jacket for Basketball Game Day 5082

Orange, royal blue and white on black mink, the colours New York’s basketball crowd wears, cut for women. The black body is worked in horizontal bands so it has a ribbed, softly padded surface, and against it the three stripes run like tail-lights: down the outside of each sleeve from the shoulder to the cuff, and straight across both flap pockets at the hip. There is nothing else on the jacket to compete with them, which is the point. A white turtleneck underneath and the stripes do the rest.

It is a hooded zip jacket, not a coat. The hood is cut from the same black mink and lies flat when it is down, the zip runs from hem to chin, and the length stops at the hip, so it works over leggings, over a skirt, and over a pair of jeans on the walk to the arena. The stripes are strips of dyed mink pieced into the black rather than trim stitched on top, so they wear at the same rate as the rest of the fur and never lift at the edge.

Made and fitted in our own workroom on West 30th Street, where a sleeve can be shortened in an afternoon. Men get the same colours on a white mink hooded jacket, the rest of our short pieces are among the mink jackets, and every fur we sell can be stored, cleaned and repaired here between seasons. Sold on its own; the leggings and turtleneck are styling.
