Description
Red, white and grey on black mink, the colours Chicago and Atlanta both wear, in the women’s cut of our striped hooded jacket. Against black the stripes read differently from any of the other combinations: the white band is the one your eye finds first, the red sits either side of it, and the grey edge keeps the whole thing from looking like a flag. Three bands run down each sleeve from the shoulder to the cuff and the same three cross both flap pockets, so the jacket is striped front and side and plain everywhere else.
The black is worked in horizontal bands, which is what gives the body its soft, ribbed depth instead of the flat look of a vertically let-out skin. A hood cut from the same mink, a centre zip from hem to chin and a hip-length hem that clears the top of a legging or a jean. The stripes are dyed mink pieced into the body, not a fabric trim, so the surface is one fur from the hood to the hem and the pattern will still be crisp in ten winters.
Made in our own workroom on West 30th Street and fitted here. The men’s version is the red striped white mink jacket, both are in the fur clearance sale for now, and either can come back to us every spring to be stored, cleaned and repaired. Sold on its own; the leggings and boots are styling.
