Description
A two-piece answer to the December problem, which is what to wear when the room is warm and the street is not. The champagne mink bustier is cut short and boned so it sits at the natural waist without help, fastened up the centre front with three buttons covered in the same pelt, on a straight strapless neckline that leaves the shoulder bare.
Over it goes the matching topper: a cropped shoulder piece with elbow-length sleeves and a shawl collar that rolls softly open rather than sitting flat. Both pieces are worked in horizontal bands, so the light breaks across the body instead of running down it, and that is what gives the set its depth under a chandelier. Champagne is the palest of the warm grades and the hardest to match across two garments; these were cut together so they agree.
Photographed over cream leather, though it takes just as well to black. Both pieces come from our own workroom on West 30th Street and either can be altered to fit.
