The one without the hood. This men’s purple striped black mink is the striped design cut with a stand collar instead, for the man who wears a hat to the game and does not want a hood bunched behind it. The stripe of royal purple beside gold runs from the top of each shoulder to the cuff and crosses both flap pockets; the body is black skins worked in horizontal bands, which gives it a ribbed depth a flat fur never has. Minneapolis wears these colours, and the jacket was photographed at the stadium with a fur hat and a plaid scarf.

A collar that stands up against the wind, a zip to the chin, a hem square at the hip over a jean. Black keeps it wearable away from the stadium: at dinner it is a black fur with a stripe and nothing more. Worn open the two bands fall either side of the scarf; zipped, they meet in the middle.

Cut and fitted in our own workroom on West 30th Street. The women’s version is the purple striped black mink hooded jacket, the pair and the family set are on the Game Day collection, and it can come back to us each spring to be stored, cleaned and repaired.
