Fox Fur Ear Muffs

Fox fur ear muffs are the least fussy way to stay warm in a New York winter. The fur is full fox, mounted on a sprung band that holds without pinching, and the whole thing folds down small enough to live in a coat pocket. Eleven colours, from crystal and silver fox through white, brown and slate blue to bright red, emerald and two pinks.

The pelt on an ear muff is doing real work rather than decoration, so it is cut from the denser part of the skin where the underfur is thickest. That is why a fox muff stays warm in wind that goes straight through a knitted band, and why the guard hair springs back instead of matting after a few wearings.

They suit anyone who will not wear a hat. A muff leaves the hair alone entirely, goes on and off in a second, and is the easiest fur to travel with — it takes no more room than a pair of gloves. Several colours here match a headband exactly, if you want the pair.

Every piece is made, altered and repaired in our own West 30th Street workroom, and can be cleaned, conditioned or restored here whenever it needs it.
