White Mink Coats

A white mink coat is one of the most distinctive garments we produce in our Manhattan workroom, valued for its dense underfur, silky guard hairs, and crisp, luminous color. Mink is a resilient pelt with natural oils that keep the leather supple and the fur buoyant through decades of cold-weather wear. Natural white mink ranges from a clean snow white to warm ivory, and because pale pelts show every nuance of texture and depth, each skin must be inspected and matched by hand under daylight lamps before cutting. In addition to natural full-nap pelts, we work with sheared white mink, which offers a lower profile and a velvety hand that drapes closely against the body.

Our collection spans full-length coats with tie belts or horizontal pelting, mid-length strollers with peplum hems, and tailored jackets. We cut these designs for both women and men, producing custom men’s long coats and stand-collar jackets alongside our traditional ladies’ garments. White mink also pairs naturally with contrasting tones. The pieces here include color-blocked coats combining white mink with slate blue, black, and brown pelts, as well as evening designs finished with chinchilla tuxedo fronts, chinchilla collars and cuffs, or wide white fox fur trim. For the home, we apply the same pelt-matching standards to construct full-pelt, king-size white mink bedspreads.

Because lighter pelts require exacting craftsmanship, a white mink coat demands precise balance and tailoring so the seams lie invisible and the garment carries easily. Marc Kaufman Furs has traded in New York since 1870, and our cut-and-sew workroom remains on West 30th Street in Manhattan. We build, adjust, and finish our furs directly on the premises, which allows us to fit any coat to your exact proportions. To help preserve the suppleness of the leather and the brightness of the fur, our facility also handles year-round cold storage, hand cleaning, repairs, and complete remodeling for the life of the garment.
