Purple and gold is the loudest pairing in this design and the one that photographs best in snow. On this women’s purple trimmed white mink the band runs royal purple beside a true gold, down both sides of the zip and once round each forearm, and with the hood up the two colours frame the face from the crown of the head to the hem. Minneapolis wears these colours all winter, which in Minneapolis is a long time.

The hood is the reason to buy this one. It is full, cut from the same white skins as the body, and stands up on its own around the face rather than collapsing onto the shoulders. Down, it lies flat like a collar. A zip to the chin, vertical skins that keep the line straight, and a hem at the hip that clears a legging or a jean.

Made and fitted in our own workroom on West 30th Street. It belongs with our white mink coats, the men’s coat in the same colours and the pair are on the Game Day collection, and it can come back to us each spring to be stored, cleaned and repaired. Sold on its own; the hat and boots are styling.
