Fox fur: the boldest fur you can wear
No fur makes an entrance like fox. Its long, silky guard hairs give fox coats and jackets a volume and movement that shorter furs can't match, catching the light with every step. Marc Kaufman Furs has crafted fox fur coats and jackets in New York City since 1870, in every natural and dyed shade the fur comes in.
Silver, red, blue, and arctic fox
Fox is the most colorful fur in the world. Choose natural silver fox — black underfur shot with silver-tipped guard hairs — or the warm tones of red fox, the smoky depth of blue and indigo fox, and the pure brightness of arctic white fox. From full-length fox coats to cropped fox jackets, vests, and stoles, each piece is a statement.
Why buy a real fox fur coat
A genuine fox fur coat is warm, dramatic, and — cared for properly — long-lasting. Fox jackets and vests are also among the easiest furs to style, layering over jeans or evening wear alike. Ask about pricing (it varies by fox type, color, and length) and about custom sizing, since most pieces can be altered or made to order.
Bought and cared for by specialists
Every fox piece is selected and finished in our own workroom, and we back each one with in-house cleaning, glazing, and cold storage to keep the long guard hairs full and lustrous. Request a quote on any fox fur coat or jacket, or visit our West 30th Street showroom to see the colors in person.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are fox fur coats heavy to wear?
Not at all. Despite their dramatic volume and fluffy appearance, real fox fur coats are actually surprisingly lightweight. The long, thick guard hairs create a dense barrier of natural air pockets that trap body heat perfectly. This offers incredible, freezing-temperature warmth without the heavy, stiff, or bulky feel of traditional wool or synthetic winter parkas.
Does real fox fur shed, and how do I maintain its fluffy look?
High-quality, expertly crafted fox fur will not shed noticeably over time, though a brand new coat may leave behind a few loose hairs initially. Because fox fur is famous for its long, voluminous guard hairs, it requires proper care to prevent matting. We recommend avoiding heavy shoulder bags that can crush the fur, giving the coat a gentle shake to restore its volume after wearing, and always using professional cold storage during the summer to keep the pelts soft and hydrated.
