Description
The hem is the point of this coat: it finishes at mid-calf in front and sweeps to the floor behind, so it moves as a full-length coat and wears as a shorter one. Ruby Red mink runs in vertical pelts down the body, split by narrow leather strips, with a zip closing to a rounded fur collar. The cuffs are deep fur banded in leather, and the same banding and border finish the hem.
Hi-low is a cut, not a length: the front is raised so the coat clears the leg when you walk, while the back keeps the line of a full-length garment. It only works if the sweep is weighted, which is what the leather banding and the fur border at the hem are doing — without them the back rides up and the shape collapses. Ruby red is a clear dyed red rather than a wine shade, and it takes an even pelt to carry it: any difference in depth between skins shows immediately in a colour this bright.
