Dyeing a coat this long is a different problem from dyeing a jacket. A jacket takes perhaps a dozen skins and a bad one can be moved to the underarm; a full-length coat takes three or four times that, every skin is on show, and any that took the dye differently will read as a band across the body under a hard light.
This burgundy full length mink coat was dyed as one lot and then sorted again afterwards, which is the step most makers skip. The shade is a deep red-brown rather than a wine: nearly black away from a lamp, clearly red under one, because the guard hair takes colour differently from the underfur beneath it. That is a property of the pelt, not a trick.
